ART Cézanne in Britain We weren’t always big on Cézanne, and when, in 1964, the National Gallery bought a Bathers canvas for £950,000, there were widespread protests. Things have improved and, as this exhibition to mark the centenary of Cézanne’s death shows, there were always collectors, such as Samuel Courtauld, ahead of the herd.
