Alatriste atracts thousands to the cinema

The most expensive Spanish film ever, took in 4.7 million € on its first weekend
The most eagerly awaited Spanish film of the year, Alatriste, has been a box office success across the countries over its first weekend, collecting in 4.7 million € - a record for Spain.
The film took 24 million € to make, making it the most expensive Spanish film ever, and is set in Spain’s golden age and has been compiled from the five books written by top Spanish author, Arturo Pérez Reverte.
It also stars top Spanish actors such as Blanco Portillo, Juan Echanove, Javier Cámara, Adriana Gil and Eduardo Noriega.
