Friday

What time is it?!?! It's time to get wild and loose with Morris Day & the Time at DAR Constitution Hall (202-397-7328). Somebody bring me a mirror! Also on the funky bill are Awb, Mother's Finest and Jas Funk . . . . Last Train Home is bringing it all back home with a weekend's worth of shows at Iota (703-522-8340). The group plays its blend of country and rock Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. . . . Latin jazz septet Afro-Bop Alliance lays down irresistible grooves in a free show on the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage (202-467-4600).

Saturday

See street-style hoops at its finest when the "And 1 Mix Tape Tour" rolls into Verizon Center (202-397-7328) with such players as Prime Objective, AO, Silk, Professor, Baby Shaq and Escalade . . . . If you were a teenage girl in the 1970s, you'll be especially interested to know that David Cassidy (c'mon, you know a lot of you had his poster on your bedroom wall) is performing at the Birchmere (703-549-7500). . . . The Miss India DC pageant takes place at Lisner Auditorium (202-994-6800). It will have an Indian dress competition, an evening gown competition and a talent competition. Five finalists will participate in a question-and-answer segment before a winner is selected.

Sunday

The perfection of his old song "It Ain't Easy Being Me" would be enough to get him a mention in this spot, but country-rockish singer-songwriter Chris Knight has a lot of other good material to draw from as well. Check him out at Iota (703-522-8340). . . . The Sugar Water Festival is at Merriweather Post (202-397-7328) and features an impressive array of soul and R&B talent. Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Queen Latifah and Kelis -- take your pick, any one of them could carry a great show by herself, and Sugar Water has them all in the same lineup. Simply put, wow.

Monday

Jurassic 5 and X-Clan are at the 9:30 club (202-393-0930). See the CD review on this page for more on J5.

Tuesday

Rock doesn't get much better than a show featuring Foo Fighters and Frank Black at DAR Constitution Hall (202-397-7328). . . . Reggae Sunsplash, featuring UB40, Toots and the Maytals, Third World and Maxi Priest , is at Nissan Pavilion (703-754-6400).

Wednesday

Rancid is at the Black Cat (202-667-7960) for the first of three nights. The group has been rocking since the early '90s with a straight-ahead punk style.

Thursday

Local artist Temika Moore sings jazzy soul, and you can hear her at the Arc (202-889-5901; it's at 1901 Mississippi Ave. SE). . . . Mary Timony, Garland of Hours and Pagoda are the performers at Fort Reno ( http://www.fortreno.com ), home of a long-standing series of summer shows.
