TheScene Shows to Catch

Friday
If you remember reading about Benjy Ferree in Weekend's Nightwatch column back in July and want an opportunity to check him out for yourself, he's on a bill with Comets on Fire and (The Sounds of) Kaleidoscope at the Black Cat (202-667-7960). By the way, if you're familiar with the heavy rock of Comets on Fire's first album but haven't heard their second, you should know that they've taken much more of a Southern rock bent (think Allman Brothers). . . . The Mose Allison Trio continues its run at Blues Alley (202-337-4141). The group is equally adept at jazz and blues and is there through Sunday.
Saturday
He has helped spread the techno vibe all over the world, and you get a taste of it his way when Talla 2XLC spins at Glow at Fur (202-842-3401).
Monday
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony have been on the rap scene a long time, and they can still bring it on the microphone. Catch them at the 9:30 club (202-393-0930).
Wednesday
Chely Wright is proof that persistence can pay. Her first few album releases went virtually unheard except by critics (who generally liked them). It wasn't until she came out with songs like "Shut Up and Drive" and "Single White Female" that she started winning the ears of country music fans. She's at Rams Head Tavern (410-268-5111) in Annapolis. . . . If you missed DMX at his recent show at Love, you have another chance at the 9:30 club (202-393-0930) or Thursday at Sonar (410-327-8333) in Baltimore.
Thursday
The ever-funky George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic are at the 9:30 club (202-393-0930). They'll also be at Rams Head Live (410-244-1131) in Baltimore on Sept. 8.
